Spiritual Formation
Join our online seminary for transformative education in the ancient Catholic tradition.
Designed to Empower, Guide, and Challenge

We hold an unwavering conviction that a rigorous and correct formation lies at the very heart of both the permanent diaconate and the priesthood.
Our formation program is meticulously designed to empower, guide, and challenge seminarians to cultivate an intimate, transformative relationship with the Lord; to discern their divinely bestowed gifts for service; and to wholeheartedly embrace their sacred calling in the Church and throughout the world.

Our Unique Approach
Rethinking Vocational Training As Practical Apprenticeships: A Path To Renewal
Spiritual Direction and Mentorship
Recognising that personal growth often flourishes through guided reflection, each seminarian is encouraged to choose a dedicated spiritual director from among our esteemed faculty or other bishops’ approved mentors. In this confidential and deeply personal relationship, the spiritual director nurtures an integrated, healthy bond with God, thoughtfully addressing the distinct challenges of modern diocesan ministry.
Regular, usually monthly meetings—with an emphasis on developing virtues such as sacrificial love, mature obedience, celibate chastity, pastoral humility, and a steadfast commitment to social justice—fortify the seminarian’s inner life and prepare them for the active responsibilities of priestly ministry.

Retreats and Dedicated Reflection
In our commitment to rigorous formation, we believe regular retreat and reflection are indispensable. The academic year begins with a day of focused recollection that draws attention to the nuances of diocesan spirituality, inviting each seminarian to deepen his personal relationship with the Lord. As the year unfolds, an annual retreat further unifies the diverse strands of spiritual and pastoral formation, enabling profound discernment and integration of life-long learning. Complementary days of reflection each semester ensure that the journey toward permanent diaconate and priesthood remains continuously enriching and transformative.
Focused Formation Workshops
To meet the ever-evolving challenges of contemporary ministry, our formation team organises semester-long workshops that address pertinent themes in pastoral care and ministerial leadership. These days of intense study and discussion bridge the gap between age-old spiritual wisdom and modern societal demands, reinforcing the belief that rigorous formation is essential to building ministers who are both deeply spiritual and practically adept.
Intellectual Formation
A vibrant and resilient ministry is not built on spiritual depth alone; intellectual rigour is equally indispensable. Our academic curriculum, fully accredited and supported by esteemed institutions, marries the study of traditional theological disciplines with a pastoral education that hones the practical skills necessary for effective ministry. Seminarians complete 120 graduate-level credit hours—with 115 credits in core courses and five credits in a free elective—through a carefully balanced sequence of biblical, theological, and pastoral subjects. This systematic and thorough approach not only deepens the appreciation of the Church’s rich scriptural, doctrinal, and liturgical heritage but also prepares future deacons and priests to navigate the complexities of contemporary faith leadership.
In our view, correct and rigorous formation is the bedrock of lasting, transformative ministry in the Church. It is through this disciplined blend of spiritual immersion and intellectual challenge that seminarians are truly prepared to serve with conviction, compassion, and competence in both the diaconate and the priesthood. Every moment of prayer, every insightful reflection, and every hour of study contributes to forging a ministry that is not only deeply rooted in tradition but also boldly engaged with the challenges of today’s world.
The Long-Term Benefits of Our Formation Programme
The long-term benefits of rigorous and correct formation for the permanent diaconate and priesthood are profound, shaping not only the individual cleric but the entire Church community. Here is how:
Personal Spiritual Growth
Deepened Relationship with God: Consistent engagement with prayer, Scripture, and sacramental life fosters an enduring spiritual depth, strengthening a cleric’s ability to serve with conviction and joy.
Lifelong Commitment to Virtue: Formation instils virtues such as humility, obedience, and sacrificial love, shaping a minister’s heart toward holiness.
Resilience in Ministry: Facing pastoral challenges with clarity and confidence becomes possible when a solid foundation in spiritual discipline has been established.
Effective Pastoral Leadership
Ability to Guide Others in Faith: A well-formed priest or deacon does not merely teach but embodies the faith, offering spiritual direction and inspiring trust among parishioners.
Pastoral Sensitivity and Wisdom: Exposure to real-life pastoral concerns during formation helps leaders navigate demanding situations with compassion and prudence.
Liturgical and Sacramental Excellence: Clergy who have been rigorously formed lead vibrant liturgies that elevate the spiritual life of their communities.
Intellectual and Theological Strength
Sound Doctrine and Teaching Authority: Formation ensures deep theological comprehension, enabling clergy to defend and explain Church teachings effectively.
Engagement with Contemporary Issues: Well-formed clergy can address modern societal challenges while staying steadfast in doctrinal truth.
Adaptability in Evangelisation: Understanding both tradition and modern needs allows for innovative approaches to catechesis and outreach.
Sustained Vocational Commitment
Ministerial Longevity: A priest or deacon grounded in rigorous formation is less likely to experience spiritual exhaustion or burnout.
Faithful Witness in a Changing World: Solid formation equips clergy to remain firm in their vocation despite cultural shifts and pressures.
True Brotherhood in Ministry: Formation fosters fraternity among clergy, ensuring mutual support and accountability throughout their lives.
Such formation ensures that ordained ministers are always beacons of faith, integrity, and wisdom, capable of guiding the Church in a manner that is both deeply traditional and dynamically relevant.
